Wow, on the "down hill" slide of another week... digging my "Pandora" radio station.

Tropical Storm "Danny" has formed in the Atlantic, staying there, not to worry.

Check out the other blog I work on for the station each day. Lots of work, but lots of fun, too.

So, think "3rd time" will be the charm for the shuttle Discovery? Bad weather, then a stuck valve... NASA will try again (likely) Early Friday morning, just after midnight or just before Midnight Saturday. 2 tries avail on Friday. So they say. I can't see them scrubbing one, then offing the fuel, adding the fuel, taking out astronauts (for a few hours) and throwing them back in there... but... we'll see. I see it going on the first try.

I am right here with you, in early to get a good spot, but then a bit noisy as kids unwind before being let loose.

Watching "A Time to Kill" last night on TV, brought back memories from fall of '95 when I went to be a "Very small part" of that movie, courtesy of director Joel Shumacher. It was a beautiful day, and got to hang ou

t with the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Spacey, Charles S Dutton and you may see m

e as a reporter asking the young Matthew McConnaughey a question.

That's Joel, we chatted about the success of his "Batman" movies and how much fun movie making can be. He was most generous with his time. I don't think there is another director like him.

Feeling nostalgic

Watching A Time To Kill on tv, reminded me of the brief role I had in Oct of 95. Director Joel Shoemaker, Kevin Spacey, Samuel L Jackson.

It was a little too cool for the pool, so beach volley ball it is. Sand castles are more fun!

Up early on this Saturday, gave blood at the Southaven branch, they are open until 4pm today, and then off for a bite of breakfast at IHOP. I am thrilled the weather is so nice and hope everyone has a chance to get out and enjoy it

WOW! Great Weather

After several days of "unsettled" weather... mother nature is giving us a break. Rain is moving out this morning and the weekend is looking unusually mild! We're talking sunshine, north winds and highs in the lower 80's. Overnight lows in the lower 60's. Folks, please get out and enjoy this "break from summer.!"

Next Shuttle Launch is scheduled for EARLY Tuesday morning next week. Like 12:30-am-ish.


Depending on how good your life is going, this is either good news or bad!

Just me, or does it feel like a version of Dallas, where you wake up, and find it was just a dream?




It's going to be a long weekend for those in Bermuda as Hurricane Bill passes just to their west, which is not good, that means the most powerful part of the storm could hit the island. Tonight and tomorrow will be the worst.

Cold Front and Claudette

The remnants of Claudette and an approaching cold front will combing to bring "unsettled" weather across the Mid-South for the next several days. Serious Hurricane watchers should try this web site.

Skies will start to clear Friday afternoon, with some noticeably cooler weather ahead for the weekend. Until then, however, be on the look out for showers and T-showers.

Believe it or not, we're less than a week away from the next launch of the Shuttle Discovery. It's an early morning lift off. About 1am, Memphis time, on the morning of the 24th.

Claudette vs. Mid-South

A couple of things to keep in mind, if you are concerned about this Tropical Storm heading out way.

First, it's breaking up as it approaches and has just lost it's "Tropical Storm" status.

Second, as a Tropical Depression, it will be centered over north Mississippi around midnight.

Third, it will be breezy and wet across north MS and west TN Tuesday, but the greatest threat of any "severe" weather will likely be well off to our east. Alabama, middle Tennessee.

We're going TROPICAL

As you may know, the tropics have lit up like a "roman candle" and have spit out 3 quick storms. Ana does not concern me at this time, but if it holds together, could re-strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico late this week. Hurricane Bill will likely spin north into the Atlantic, which leaves us with Claudette. Exploding like a hot kernal of corning, popping into a tropical storm that is heading in our direction. (Claudette was down graded to a Tropical Depression Monday morning)

This is a cool website, that you may enjoy... even though it has a strange name.

Here are the computer models on the project path for this Storm. I think we'll be feeling the effects late Monday and into Tuesday, but an approaching cold front will likely limit its impact. Let's keep an eye on it none the less.

The cat that has adopted our family is below, I guess we serve up some decent food, cuz it keeps coming back for more!

Our found cat, Sundae

When this cat arrived arrived at our house about a month ago, it appeared as if it was lost, and had been in the woods for a few weeks, quite skinny. Also friendly, it appeared to be a pet as it was most friendly, not scared, not full of ticks or fleas. So, because of its strange markings, the kids call her "Sundae." We've since got the weight back on her, but even though she wants to, we are not letting her in the

house. There are many safe places for her outside, and we'll figure out what to do with her when it gets cold.

Back in the Saddle

Well, after the big 10 day trip to the Rockies, I'm back, and man, will this Mid-South weather hit you hard.

The temps in Canada our entire trip were in the 60-70 degree range, with the exception of Kamloops, where it was a little warmer, although we were there just long enough to break for the night on the "Railroading in the Rockies" trip.

I'm hooked up to this blog on my cell phone now, which means I can send pictures and do updates, all from my phone, which is cool. (and easier than trying to post pictures on Twitter!)
